MFA Candidate: Studio Art 

Sasha Barrett was born and raised in Sumy, Ukraine, which is located in the North East part of the country. After spending the first half of his life there he moved to Boise, Idaho. Sasha received his BFA from Boise State University in 2014. He was the UM resident at The Clay Studio of Missoula, and was a recipient of the Workexchange Program at The Clay Studio of Philadelphia. During his time in Philadelphia Sasha worked out of his studio and showroom, participated in pottery tours as well as national group shows. While working in the studio and teaching pottery classes, Sasha was also working at a fine art gallery as an art handler. In 2019 Sasha was a recipient of the Ceramics Monthly Imerging Artist Award. After returning to Idaho, Sasha was awarded the Alexa Rose Grant to help fund his current studio practiceHe is currently a first year graduate student at University of Montana, focusing on earthenware pottery and sculpture fired in atmospheric kilns that reference destruction, war, and sorrow.
