Cathryn Mallory is a Professor and Director of the Gallery of Visual Arts for the School of Visual and Media Arts at the University of Montana-Missoula, where she teaches sculpture and BFA professional practices courses. Originally from the Chicago area, she earned her BFA in fiber from Northern Illinois University and MFA in sculpture from the University of Oklahoma. She is actively involved with numerous state arts organizations and has served as a juror for numerous exhibitions at various museums and university galleries.

As an artist, she is interested in the relationship between structure, form, materials, and process to express concepts of duality. She primarily uses laborious fiber techniques and a diverse range of materials to create her sculpture and installations. Her work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions on a regional and national level, and is featured in the permanent collections of several major museums in Montana, South Dakota, and Nevada.
