Since graduating from U of M I have had the extreme pleasure of teaching teens art in and around Salt Lake City, Utah’s public schools. Currently I am teaching high school in my state’s largest Title One school. I am fortunate to be able to teach AP Art History and help get students’ journeys in higher education started with our concurrent enrollment studio classes as well. I have never thought more about questions of equity and accessibility. With these issues in mind, I have spent the last two years publishing curriculum for my district’s online art department to meet the complex needs of modern learners. I am passionate about advocacy for the arts and have had the pleasure of being a part of many community art installations, including my favorite project so far, painting street pianos with my students.

What I love most about being an art teacher is the natural relationship of teaching to exploring and reflecting on a wide variety of media, subject matter and approaches, and how this informs my teaching and my art…a fulfilling symbiosis.
